10-Day Lhasa, Everest & Namtso Lake Tour

This 10-day Everest Namtso tour combines Tibet's essential cultural landmarks with two very different highland landscapes: the Everest Base Camp area and the open Changtang Plateau. It is designed for travelers who want a longer route with time for acclimatization, mountain scenery and northern Tibet's wildlife habitats. The itinerary begins with arrival and rest in Lhasa at 3,650m. The first sightseeing days cover Drepung and Sera Monasteries, the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street before the route continues via Yamdrok Lake and Karola Glacier to Shigatse. Travel onward through Dingri and Gyawula Pass to Everest Base Camp, stay at Rongbuk Tent Guest House and visit Rongbuk Monastery before returning through Xilin Viewpoint. The second part of the journey crosses the Changtang Plateau to Bange, where travelers can look for Tibetan antelopes and black-necked cranes and visit nomad tents. Continue to Namtso Lake for panoramic mountain-pass views and a hike around Tashi Dor Island, then return to Lhasa for a Tibetan herbal bath and free time. The highest listed altitude is 5,200m.
