How do I prepare for high altitude?

What is the best time to visit Tibet?

The best time to visit Tibet is from April to October when weather is most favorable. May-June and September-October offer clear skies and mild temperatures. July-August can be rainy but landscapes are lush and green. Winter tours are possible but some areas may be inaccessible.

The first day in Lhasa is kept light for acclimatization. Avoid alcohol, heavy exercise and overexertion after arrival.
Potala Palace tickets are limited and assigned by the reservation system. The visiting order may be adjusted according to ticket time.
Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier and Namtso Lake visits may be adjusted due to weather, road conditions, traffic control, seasonal access or local regulations.
Namtso Lake is especially weather-sensitive and may be replaced or adjusted if access is not suitable.
Photography may be restricted inside temples, monasteries or certain cultural sites. Please follow guide instructions.
Please dress respectfully when visiting religious sites and avoid touching Buddhist statues, murals, prayer wheels or religious objects without permission.
